Guide to Public Access Fees

The fee ranges set out below are intended to provide some general guidance regarding fees.

It depends on the following factors which affect cost :

  • The area of law concerned and issues at stake
  • The experience level of the chosen barrister.
  • The volume of the paperwork involved.
  • The complexity of any legal issues.
  • The estimated length of any court hearing.

Fee Ranges

Initial consultation to assess suitability for public access .   .    Free 

Conference for advice (per hour) .   .   .   .   .   .   .   .   .   .   .  .  .  £100  – £150          

Court hearing with time estimate of 2 hours or less  .   .   .   .  £250 – £500

Court hearing with time estimate of a half-day  .   .   .   .   .   .  £500 – £1000

Court hearing with a time estimate of a full day .   .   .   .   .   . £1000 – £1500

All information is correct as of today, but fees are estimates only. Once we know more about your case we will be able to assess any fees with greater precision.

We undertake cases subject to:

  • The graduated fee regimes for all cases
  • Conditional fee agreements
  • Fixed fees (per case or hearing)
  • Hourly rate fees
  • ‘Block contract’ fees
  • Public access pre-agreed fixed fees (per case or hearing)

Hourly rates range from £150 – £350 per hour dependant upon the area of law concerned, the experience of counsel and the complexity and significance of the work. The above fee is exclusive of VAT. Our VAT number is 437293289.
